Residents Rally to Stop Cincinnati Closings

By LJ Staff

Hundreds of people throughout Hamilton County are mounting petition drives,
starting letter-writing campaigns, and calling town meetings in an effort to
stop the closings Sept. 1 of five branches of the Public Library of
Cincinnati and Hamilton County
. Some are even volunteering to do yard work
and other volunteer activities to save the library money. “I’m optimistic we
will find a way to keep the libraries open,” Deer Park Mayor Dave Collins told
the local press. “We may not have an answer at the two meetings, but I think
we’re going to be able to come up with a solution before Sept. 1.”
