Wake County Considering Expansion

By LJ Staff

The Wake County Library, NC, is considering a $53 million plan to build eight
new public libraries and replace four old ones by 2010. According to a
presentation by library director Tom Moore to county commissioners, more
libraries need to be built to keep pace with the county’s population, which
ballooned by 48 percent between 1990 and 2000. Branches are already overcrowded.
A formal presentation about the plan is expected to be made in November, and a
bond referendum may be held next year, according to the News &
Observer
.
