Chef Dishes $15 Million to University Library

By LJ Staff

Doris and Jay Christopher, founders of the Pampered Chef Ltd., a leading
seller of housewares, has donated $15 million to Valparaiso University, IN,
which will be applied toward a new library. The university has raised a
remarkable $121 million–well above the initial goal of $75 million–to pay the
estimated $33 million price tag for the building, with the remainder of the
money being used for an endowment and other expenses. Jay Christopher received
his degree from the university and now serves on its board. When the building is
completed, it will be called the Christopher Center for Library and Information
Resources.
