Enoch Pratt Launches E-Stories Service for Kids

By LJ Staff

The Enoch Pratt Free Library, Baltimore, has launched a new service that
offers “live-action, multicultural storyteller performances” for kids on its web site. Funded by an Institute of Museum
and Library Services (IMLS) grant, the project initially is offering seven
stories, but 33 more performances are in the works and others will be added over
time. A new story will be mounted weekly. The library says that the stories
represent numerous cultures, including African, African American, Appalachian,
Celtic, Chinese, Indian, Iranian, Irish, Jewish, and Native American. The
program is designed both the increase awareness of other cultures and to promote
reading. Enoch Pratt is the first library in the state to offer the E-Stories,
but the collection later will be available to other libraries on
DVD.
