FCC Tightens Rules on E-Rate

As part of its campaign against waste, fraud, and abuse of the e-rate, the Federal Communications Commission has voted to tighten guidelines for schools and libraries seeking funds for discounts on equipment and Internet connections. The rules now say that equipment must be held for at least three years before it can be transferred to another facility, and that equipment can’t be upgraded more than twice in five years.
