Following The Return of the King sweep at the February 29 Academy Awards, St. Martin’s announced that it is pushing up the release date of Ian Pryor’s portrait of the film’s director Peter Jackson–From Prince of Splatter to Lord of the Rings: An Unauthorized Biography from May 5 to April 7. The publisher claims that Pryor’s is the first full-length biography of the filmmaker. The Return of the King, the final leg of Jackson’s feature adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic, received 11 Oscars–including Best Picture and Best Director–tying for the record with Ben-Hur and Titanic. By its tenth week of release, the film had earned more than $1 billion worldwide, so it ultimately may push Titanic out of the top slot as the all-time box office champ.
