Hopeful Kerry Wants To Hold Bash at BPL

By LJ Staff

Presidential candidate John Kerry wants to hold an election-night bash in Copley Square, outside the Boston Public Library. The Boston Globe reported October 19 that Kerry campaign organizers have approached the mayor about using the Square, which is adjacent to Trinity Church and the John Hancock Tower. This locale beat out Fenway Park, the Fleet Center, and several other potential sites, but the city is being skittish: "the request is pending for a myriad of reasons, including security and traffic," said Seth Gitell of the mayor’s office. The concerns are genuine, as attendance estimate are as high as 30,000.
