Bowker Adds Fiction Connection RA Tool to BooksInPrint.com

By LJ Staff

R.R. Bowker has added a new readers’ advisory tool to its popular BooksInPrint.com product. Dubbed Fiction Connection, the site lets BooksInPrint.com subscribers search U.S. fiction and biography titles by topic, genre, setting, character, location, and timeframe, which generates a list of suggested reading. The character search offers a wide spectrum of choices, so users, for example, can look for titles broadly featuring private investigators or more narrowed focused to female PIs. The technology powering the search engine is Medialab’s Aqua Browser with word cloud, and the data displayed is pulled from fiction and biography profiles developed by Syndetic Solutions.
