Knopf Corrals Clinton for Citizens Book

By LJ Staff

Former president Bill Clinton is embarking on his second book to be published by Knopf in late 2007 or early 2008 with a focus on public service and individual heroism, the AP reports. Clinton said he was inspired to produce the volume after viewing the actions of individuals fighting AIDS in Africa, providing tsunami relief in Southeast Asia, and fellow Americans assisting hurricane victims in the gulf. "We all have the capacity to do great things like this, and I am writing this book to encourage others to join their ranks," Clinton said. Financial terms are undisclosed, but with the success of his memoir My Life, for which he received a reported $10 to $12 million up front, you can bet Bubba wrangled a whopper of an advance.
