Book News: North American Hammett Prize Nominees Announced

  • Prize honors work of literary excellence in the field of crime writing by a U.S. or Canadian author
  • Winner will be announced this June at the Bloody Words mystery conference

The International Association of Crime Writers’ North American branch has released the nominees for the annual Hammett Prize honoring “a work of literary excellence in the field of crime writing by a U.S. or Canadian author. Vying for the prize are:

  • Gil Adamson, The Outlander (House of Anansi)
  • Michael Chabon, The Yiddish Policemen’s Union (HarperCollins)
  • Michael Dibdin, End Games:An Aurelio Zen Mystery (Pantheon)
  • Katie Estill, Dahlia’s Gone: A Novel (St. Martin’s)
  • Martin Cruz Smith, Stalin’s Ghost: An Arkady Renko Novel (S&S)

 The winner will be announced this June at the Bloody Words mystery conference in Toronto.
