Updates Emerge from SirsiDynix

By Josh Hadro

In other ILS news, SirsiDynix recently released updates to its Horizon ILS and the Horizon Information Portal, along with a new version of its Web Reporter software. New features and fixes added to this release of the Horizon 7.4.2 core ILS system and HIP 3.10 include the ability to authenticate users via an LDAP directory, to index integration with the company’s Enterprise faceted search product, and to support supplemental catalog content like book reviews and cover art from Bowker’s Syndetic Deluxe. The release also includes a fix to the Boolean search algorithm, said the company, so that “users can find titles with ‘not’ as a keyword search.”

In addition, Web Reporter 3.2.1 has been released and now works with the Symphony 3.2.1 ILS system, as well as with Horizon. Web Reporter provides functionality somewhat similar to the company’s Director’s Station software (see InfoTech, LJ 10/15/08, p. 21), allowing users to perform statistical analysis and generate reports from ILS data on things like “circulation, acquisitions budget, serial collections, and collection development statistics,” said the company, all accessible through any web browser. The new Web Reporter also includes “over 100 prewritten reports,” as well as support for custom report generation.
