In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, thought I’d share this video from Library Ireland. Cute and clever, but wondering about the exclusive focus on books. What do you think?

Alison Circle is director of marketing communications for Columbus Metropolitan Library. Previously she was an Account Director at Jack Morton Worldwide, a global branding agency, and her primary client was Target Stores. Prior to that she was the National Marketing Director for Minnesota Public Radio and "A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor." She has advanced degrees in English and Fine Arts, and is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant.

    Maybe the books are just better at being dominoes! They do show use of ebooks and computers…My problem with it was that the words made from falling books weren’t especially clear. Having some text shown on screens did help.

    Do libraries in Ireland have as much of a percentage of audiovisual media in their collections as libraries in the U.S.? I don’t really know what their policies might be on AV.

    books fall better than other media? Seriously, though, I am glad the focus is on books. it is a subtle way to promote literate behaviors regardless of the format.
