Joan Beatson is the new Children’s Librarian, Granby Public Library, CT, succeeding Evie Caranchini, who retired in December 2011. Beatson previously worked at Farmington Libraries, CT.
Anne Fredine, Assistant Regional Library Director, Moorhead Library, MN, part of Lake Agassiz Regional Library, has retired. She held the position since 1986.

Heather James has been appointed Research and Instructional Services Librarian, Raynor Memorial Libraries, Marquette University, Milwaukee. She previously was Instruction and Access Services Librarian, University of Minnesota, Morris.
Melody Jenkins, Director, Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System (M-CCLS), GA, for almost 37 years, has retired. She is succeeded by Holly Phillips, who was Bookmobile Librarian for M-CCLS.
Daniel Lee, Knowledge Manager, KPMG Global Healthcare,Toronto, is the recipient of SLA’s 2012 ProQuest Dialog Member Achievement Award.
Dennis Lloyd has been promoted to Deputy Director, University Press of Florida, Gainesville. He formerly was Assistant Director/Sales & Marketing Director and will take on acquisitions and partnership responsibilities.
Suzanne Moore is the new Librarian, Ashe County Public Library, West Jefferson, NC, part of the three-county Appalachian Regional Library system. She previously was Director, Mineola Memorial Library, TX.
Adela Peskorz, Faculty Librarian and Associate Professor of Adolescent Literature and Information Studies, Metropolitan State University, Minneapolis, has retired after 15 years in the position and 32 years in the profession.
Malinda Roberts will become Director, Spencer Public Library, IA, effective August 13. She comes from Tippecanoe Public Library, Lafayette, IN, where she has been Reference Librarian.
New York Public Library (NYPL) has announced two promotions. Jenny Engstrom has been appointed Director of Reference and Research Services, a cabinet-level role, according to NYPL. Nicholas Higgins has been named Associate Director for Community Outreach, a newly created position. He previously was Supervising Correctional Services Librarian.
Lead the Change is a library leadership seminar that brings together library thought leaders to show participants how today's top libraries are leading change and transforming their communities. Attendees are lead through a series of exercises to help bridge
key thoughts to individual leadership objectives to help them harness their ideas, their innovation and their ability to lead.
