| Awesome: that’s the best way to describe the 2013 class of Movers & Shakers. This particular group may have more librarians working outside traditional libraries than ever before, attesting to the role librarians, and those in the library field, play in the larger world. Yet whatever their title or workplace, these Movers are making outsize contributions.
This latest group of 50 (rolling out over the next week) brings the number of Movers to over 600. The Movers are quick to tell us they’re stand-ins for the many creative, diligent librarians, and others, building the library future. We know there are innumerable talented candidates, and we thank all of you who took the time to send in your nominations. We couldn’t present the Movers without our accomplished writers: Sarah Bayliss, Marta Murvosh, and Jen Pinkowski, who once again did the bulk of the work, along with LJ’s own Meredith Schwartz and School Library Journal’s Karyn M. Peterson and Mahnaz Dar. Thanks also to OCLC for continuing to support Movers & Shakers online, where you’ll find Movers on the Map and a complete list of Movers from 2002 to 2013. Lead the Change is a library leadership seminar that brings together library thought leaders to show participants how today's top libraries are leading change and transforming their communities. Attendees are lead through a series of exercises to help bridge 
key thoughts to individual leadership objectives to help them harness their ideas, their innovation and their ability to lead.
