Library People News: Hires, Promotions, Retirements, and Obituaries

Linda A. Adams was promoted to Director of Charlevoix Public Library, MI. She was previously Interim Director and Adult Services Supervisor/Librarian.

Gayle Brown was promoted to Associate Publisher/Art Director of Eerdmans Books for Young Readers at Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company. She was previously Art Director.

Georgia Coleman was promoted to Director of Library Experience at Richland Library, Columbia, SC. She was previously its Community Outreach Manager.

Emily Drabinski, Coordinator of Instruction at Long Island University, Brooklyn, and a 2014 LJ Mover & Shaker, received the Association of College and Research Libraries Instruction Section Ilene F. Rockman Publication of the Year Award.

Vanessa Irvin, Assistant Professor of Library and Information Science at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, was appointed a Center for the Study of Libraries, Information, and Society Fellow for 2015–16.

Janice Mathurin, Director of Operations at West Fresno Family Resource Center, CA, was appointed President of the Foundation for Fresno County Public Library for 2015.

Mary Olson, Reader’s Advisory Librarian at Medina County District Library, OH, received the Allie Beth Martin Award from the Public Library Association.

Claire Schmieder is now an Adult Services Librarian at Cherry Hill Public Library, NJ. She was previously a Program Assistant at the Alice Paul Institute, Mount Laurel, NJ.

Robert A. Seal, Dean of Loyola University Libraries, Chicago, was named the 2015 Association of College and Research Libraries’ ­Academic/Research Librarian of the Year.

OBITUARY

Carol Davis Junek, a former Librarian at Sturgis Public Library, SD, and Rapid City Regional Hospital, died on February 28. She was 88 years old.

Bernice Miller Olson, a Librarian at Arabut Ludlow Memorial Library, Green County, WI, for 15 years, died on March 4. She was 94 years old.

Thelma Davis Ralston, former Director of the Clementon Memorial Library, NJ, died on February 26. She was 103 years old.
