Library People News: Hires, Promotions, Retirements, and Obituaries

Stephanie J. Coakley, formerly Director of Education, Mattatuck Museum, Waterbury CT, has been named Executive Director, Pequot Library, Southport, CT, succeeding Heather-Marie Montilla.

Connie Cunningham, a former high school teacher, is the new director of the Montpelier Library, OH, succeeding Gloria Osburn, who retired in August after 14 years at the library.

Joan DaShiell has joined Creekside Digital, a provider of standards-compliant image digitization services for the cultural heritage community, as Director of Digital Services. She began her career at OCLC and, when OCLC’s Preservation Service Center was acquired by Backstage Library Works, became VP of Digitization Services.

Backstage Library Works announced September 8 that Jocelyn Dunlop will join its sales team as a Northern Territory Sales Rep.

Toyin Falola, Professor of African Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, will serve as the Library of Congress Kluge Chair in Countries and Cultures of the South for four months, effective September 6.

Mary Jane Garrett, Head of Technical Services, Northlake Public Library, IL, retired August 31 after 13 years at the library.

Boston Public Library (BPL) has selected Lisa Rosinsky as the 13th annual recipient of the Associates of BPL Writer-in-Residence fellowship, created to provide emerging authors with support to complete a work for children or young adults.
