Library People News: Hires, Promotions, Retirements, and Obituaries

Ingram Content Group has added three new associates: Peter Antone, formerly Director of Consumer Marketing and Sales at The Tennessean and Gannett–USA Today Network, joins as Director of Marketing, Publisher Services; Rachel Bressler, most recently Editorial Director at Plume, Penguin Random House, is Ingram’s new Director of Client Relations for Perseus Distribution; and Kurt Hettler is now with Ingram Academic Services as Director of Academic Services after more than 25 years as Director of Publisher Services at Oxford University Press.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library announced three appointments, effective September 1: Monica Figueroa, previously Assistant State Publications Cataloger at the State Library of North Carolina, Raleigh, is the new Music Cataloging Librarian, Resource Description and Management Department; Jessica Venlet, former Library Fellow for Digital Archives, MIT Libraries, Cambridge, has been appointed Assistant University Archivist for Records Management and Electronic Records; and Alice Whiteside, previously Reference and Instruction Librarian, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, is the new Head of the Joseph C. Sloane Art Library.

OCLC appointed Rachel Frick, most recently Director of Business Development at the Digital Public Library of America, as the new Executive Director of the OCLC Research Library Partnership.

Edward L. (Ted) Widmer, Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, New York, and Senior Fellow and Adjunct Professor of History, Brown University, Providence, has been appointed Director, John W. Kluge Center, the Library of Congress, effective October 3.
