Teenlibrarian, if there were a "like" feature for posts, I would "like" your posts.

Ha ha... do I no longer know how to communicate in full sentences, and instead express a wide range of sentiments through the "like" button? It can express so many thoughts... I agree with your comment, I agree with whatever video/article you've linked to, I disagree with that video/article but I agree with your critical comment, I disagree with your critical comment, but I agree with the video/article, I am expressing sarcasm, I'm expressing my awareness of an inside joke, etc..

I think you're being a bit hyperbolic in regards to #1 and #2. Plenty of libraries have "stayed open" in the past couple of years, but reduced hours, and I have no doubt that will continue as state and local funding for libraries are reduced.

The majority of librarians may still be employed, but that does not discount many who have been laid off, bumped, taken a retirement to avoid cuts. You also do not mention library paraprofessionals who often get cut before librarians. Many of them are gone as well.

I hope your predictions are true.

There will be an uprising against young, hip librarians by their less hip counterparts. Who are sick of taking up the work slack so they can be "movers and shakers." Want to move and shake? How about weeding your sections and ordering some books.
