A Special Day for Librarians | RWA 2017

A highlight of the annual Romance Writers of America (RWA) conference is Librarians Day, held this year on Saturday, July 29

BEA Goes Global

You’d better pack your comfy shoes. Not only is New York a walking city, but the programs and exhibits at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and elsewhere during BookExpo American (BEA) will keep you busier than a Saturday at the library. Before the show proper begins, LJ and sister publication School Library Journal (SLJ) will each host our annual Day of Dialog (DoD) event at the McGraw-Hill Conference Center. The panels, presentations, and signings at DoD are highlights of our year, and the 2014 lineups are particularly rich.

ACRL Preview: Indianapolis, IN, April 10-13, 2013

Why is this conference unlike all other conferences? Several of this year’s innovations are drawn from the current trends in professional gatherings that feature high-energy, interactive, bottom-up content rather than traditional presentations. Other 2013 changes to the conference include added support for body (yoga, massage) and brain (the new Buddy Program), plus technology-enabled instant gratification: attendees can vote for their favorite sessions in the ACRL People’s Choice Awards via mobile device.

PLA Conference Preview 2012: Great Expectations | Philadelphia, March 13–17

Expectations are very optimistic for attendance at the Public Library Association (PLA) biennial conference in Philadelphia, March 13–17. Preregistrations at this writing were already coming in at a rate even with or a bit ahead of the attendance in 2010; with librarians and exhibitors, total attendance might exceed 8000.
