Minneapolis Board Affirms Cuts

By LJ Staff

The Minneapolis Library Board has affirmed the 2004 budget it adopted in preliminary form
that will keep branches open but slashes hours and staff. According to the Star-Tribune,
no board members opposed the plan, although Chairwoman Laura Waterman Wittstock
abstained. Wittstock said she thought the plan left the system with “too much
real estate and not enough service.”
