Queens Library Gets Surprise $1 Million

By LJ Staff

As libraries in New York City have been going to the public for emergency support, the Queens Borough Public Library received a happy surprise: a check for $1 million from an anonymous donor. The gift, arriving in an overnight express envelope, came from a financial services firm acting on behalf of a client, according to the library. Said Interim Director Thomas W. Galante, “It will allow us to purchase 100,000 new books that we could not have afforded otherwise.”
