Rowling: No Potter Prequels

By LJ Staff

At the recent Edinburgh International Book Festival, Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling quashed rumors of a series of Potter prequels. When questioned by fans over the possibility of volumes on Harry and his friends’ lives pre-Hogwarts, Rowling chuckled and dismissed the idea. She did, however, offer some spoiler info on Harry’s fate after the final book, according to press accounts. ‘He will survive book seven, mainly because I don’t want to be strangled by you lot,’ she joked, ‘but I don’t want to say whether he grows any older than that.’ She also suggested that fans should ask themselves ‘not why did Harry live, but why didn’t Voldemort die?’ and ‘why didn’t Dumbledore kill, or try to kill, Voldemort?’ Rowling currently is working on the sixth book in the series, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
