Houghton Releases Spanish-language Kaufman Birders Guide

By LJ Staff

Houghton Mifflin is releasing a Spanish-language edition of Ken Kaufman’s 2000 smash Kaufman Guide to Birds of North America. Houghton claims that Guía de campo Kaufman a las aves de Norteamérica is the first Spanish field guide to North American birds. The volume was translated by Patricia Manzano Fischer and includes new bird-voice descriptions by Hector Gomez de Silva. The Spanish text also incorporates the American Ornithologists’ Union’s official name changes for birds plus dozens of updated range maps, along with new information for getting started in birding. Kaufman said the impetus behind the Spanish-language edition is to increase the practice of birding and preserving the outdoors.
