DiCaprio Gets Literary With Vonnegut, Hemingway

By LJ Staff

Leonardo DiCaprio is getting literary: Variety reports that the Aviator star’s Appian Way production company has bought the rights to develop Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle into a feature film. The industry insider reports that James V. Hart, who adapted Clive Cussler’s Sahara for the screen and is now performing a similar feat for Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, will morph Vonnegut’s apocalyptic novel into a screenplay. In front of the camera, DiCaprio also is in talks to star in a remake of Hemingway’s Spanish Civil War epic For Whom The Bell Tolls. That script is being adapted by Troy screenwriter David Benioff.
