Phoenix Library Will Have More Police Patrols

By LJ Staff

The Phoenix Public Library, which has seen city officials order an Internet filtering plan for all users, soon will have an increased police presence at the Burton Barr Central Library. In fact, reported the Arizona Republic, officials will create a police beat office in the building – all a response to the library’s safety and security task force, which was responding to concerns about "unsanitary behaviors" and other problems around the building. Under discussion: a new code of conduct for those outside the library’s entrance, and a redesign of the library entrance to discourage loitering.
