Book News: IMPAC Dublin Award Names Finalists

By Michael Rogers

The prestigious IMPAC Dublin Literary Award has listed the 137 librarian-nominated finalists. The award bills itself as “the largest and most international award of its kind [and] involves libraries from all corners of the globe.” The hefty £100,000 prize also “is open to books written in any language.” The initial list of 137 contenders will be whittled down to a short list in April 2008, with the winner being announced June 12. The awards are judged by a panel of six writers and literary scholars.
