Book News: Author, Political Watchdog William F. Buckley Jr.Dies

The New York Times reports that political activist and prolific author William F. Buckley Jr. died at his Stamford, CT, home early this morning. No immediate cause of death was reported. He was 82. Buckley authored 45 volumes across a broad variety of subjects ranging from spy novels to memoirs and edited five other titles. Two additional volumes, Remembering Barry Goldwater and The Reagan I Knew, are scheduled for release later this year.

The Times also calculates that his “biweekly newspaper columns, ‘On the Right,’ would fill 45 more medium-sized books.” Buckley additionally hosted the long-running Firing Line on TV and founded the National Review magazine.
