Library People News: Hires, Promotions, Retirements, and Obituaries

Katie Chatas, a volunteer at the Homework Help Center, Karl Road Branch, Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML), OH, was appointed to CML’s Board of Trustees for a seven-year term.

Burton Craig, Monte Sereno Council Member, was elected Chair of the Santa Clara County Library District, CA, Joint Powers Authority Governing Board.

Jesse Montero was promoted to Director, Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) Central Library. He was previously BPL Coordinator of Information Services.

Patrick Sweeney was named Political Director at EveryLibrary, the dedicated library political action committee. A 2015 LJ Mover & Shaker, he was previously Administrative Librarian, Sunnyvale Public Library, CA.

Richard Szary, Director, Louis Round Wilson Special Collections Library and Associate University Librarian for Special Collections, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, has retired after 40 years in the field.

Karin A. Trainer announced her retirement as University Librarian at Princeton University, NJ, effective at the end of the academic year. She has been in the position for 20 years.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services has named Ammie Farraj Feijoo Deputy Director of the Office of Digital and Information Strategy; Paula Gangopadhyay was named Deputy Director of the Office of Museum Services.
