Library People News: Hires, Promotions, Retirements, and Obituaries

Bill Cochran announced his retirement as Director, Billings Public Library, MT, effective August 1. He has been in the position for 25 years.

Geri Cupery announced her retirement as Youth Services Librarian at E.D. Locke Public Library, McFarland, WI. She has held the position for ten years.

Cheryl LaGuardia, Research Librarian at the Widener Library of Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, has been awarded the 2016 Isadore Gilbert Mudge Award for her contributions to reference librarianship.

Heidi Murphy was appointed Director of Library Services at Pleasanton Public Library, CA. She was previously Library Director, Los Gatos Public Library, CA.

Matthew Poland was named Director, Russell Library, Middletown, CT. He was previously CEO at Hartford Library, CT.

Bridget Quinn-Carey was appointed CEO of Hartford Public Library, CT, effective April 11. She previously served as Interim President and CEO of the Queens Library, Jamaica, NY.

Jacqueline Solis is now Director of Research and Instructional Services at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Library, effective March 1. She was previously the library’s Coordinator of Liaison Services and Subject Librarian.

    I love to read and have been looking for a position to do what I love to do, read and review books.

    I am able to read at speed and accuracy.
    Also able to write accurate reviews.

    I would love to work with authors, whom the publishing house believes, have potential books that can move onto full publication and then eventual sells.
