Join us in Boston for a day-long seminar
focusing on the new face of the library.

Hosted by Library Journal in partnership with Boston Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, this newest installment of our library building and design event will bring you the latest design thinking for changing user needs and expectations in a digital world.

Come together with librarians, architects, and vendors to explore topics such as shrinking collections, maker spaces and digital labs, community engagement, and much more. Whether you’re renovating, retrofitting, or building anew, you’ll find ideas, information, and inspiration no matter your budget.

Design Institute Salt Lake City

This full-day event provides expert panel discussions with librarians and architects on pressing topics and trends in library space and design as well as a special panel focusing on the latest product offerings. Attendees have hands on time in a small group architect-led breakout session dealing with real-life design challenges submitted in advance by fellow attendees. There will also be plenty of face time and networking opportunities with architects, furniture and equipment vendors, and colleagues.

And you’ll have the opportunity to take an optional tour of area libraries hosted by Boston Public Library on December 4 from 12:00-5:00 pm preceding the December 5 seminar (details to come/registrants will be alerted by email).

Admission is free but space is limited, so sign up today! Registration is open only to librarians and their city planners. If you are an architect and would like to sponsor, please contact us at
